How should a peptide brand approach email and SMS?
Start with how the product is lawfully sold, because that decides the platform and the copy. Prescription peptides follow telehealth rules: promote the care service, keep health data out of marketing, and make no prescription offers. Cosmetic peptides follow cosmetic rules: substantiated claims and no drug claims. Research-use-only products sold for human use shouldn't be marketed at all.
Where we draw the line
Plenty of agencies will take any peptide account. We won't, and that's the point. The brands we work with need a partner whose work holds up when a payment processor, an ESP or a regulator looks closely.
Prescription peptides through telehealth
If a licensed clinician prescribes your peptide and a licensed pharmacy fills it, you’re a telehealth brand for messaging purposes. The same rules that apply to GLP-1 programs apply to you:
- Lifecycle marketing promotes the program and membership; clinical messages stay in your HIPAA-covered system
- No discounts or ‘offers’ on the prescription itself
- No implying a compounded product is equivalent to an approved drug
- A platform whose acceptable use policy doesn’t exclude your category (Klaviyo’s does)
See the full playbook on our GLP-1 & telehealth page.
Cosmetic peptide skincare
Topical peptide skincare sells like any premium beauty brand, until the copy drifts into drug territory. ‘Makes fine lines less noticeable’ is a cosmetic claim. ‘Boosts collagen production’ or ‘removes wrinkles’ describes changing the skin’s structure, which FDA treats as a drug claim. We write the first kind, and we make sure you can substantiate it.
- Replenishment flows timed to real usage, not a guess
- Regimen education that builds attachment to the routine
- Post-purchase, review and referral programs
- Subscription save and win-back
- VIP and loyalty segmentation using RFM and predictive scoring
Why we don't market 'research use only' peptides to people
A product labeled ‘research use only’ is, by its own label, not for people. Marketing it for human use puts a brand at risk with regulators, payment processors and email platforms. Commenting on FDA’s March 2026 warning letters, Venable LLP advised telehealth companies to do due diligence on any research-use-only peptides they buy. We don’t build programs that market these products for human use, and we’ll tell you so in the first call.
